Bridging our History with our Future
For nearly 70 years, since our founding in 1956, Mount Sinai Congregation has been a home to thousands of Jews across Ivy Hill, Vailsburg, Newark, South Orange, and Maplewood. As an emissary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, in 1964 Rabbi Shmuel P. Bogomilsky began his leadership of the congragation to proudly uphold and strengthened Jewish life.
This mission became especially vital when waves of Jewish families arrived from the former USSR. Beginning in the late 1970s, hundreds of families settled in Ivy Hill, followed by many more over the next three decades. Mount Sinai welcomed them with open arms—offering help with housing, furniture, food, transportation, and any support they needed.
Your support ensures this legacy continues—strong, vibrant, and ready to serve the next generation.
Our Community. Our Synagogue. Our Future.
