Bar and Bat Mitzvah Club

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR THE 2022-2023 YEAR!

The Athens Bar and Bat Mitzvah Clubs offer, respectively, a unique learning opportunity for boys and girls entering the Jewish adulthood. The classes focus extensively on preparing the young teens not only for their Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah, but also for their adult life as a proud Jew.

Throughout the year, we meet weekly to discover all about Judaism, the Jewish Holidays, the history, practices, and traditions, and gain an understanding and skills for the adult Jewish life, as well as learn the Alef Bet (Hebrew alphabet) and some basic Hebrew vocabulary. The classes are interactive and hands on, filled with fun activities and workshops, spanning arts and crafts, baking, and more!

In addition to the basic Judaics curriculum, in the Bar Mitzvah Club, the boys will learn all about Tefillin, their meaning and how to don them, as well as the main Jewish prayers. We offer additional classes for those who would like to read the Torah portion at the Synagogue on their Bar Mitzvah, in either Ashkenazi or Sefardi tunes.

We also offer one-on-one private lessons at a location of your choice and at a time that is convenient for you.
